Peter’s Titanium Cyclocross Bike
Keep it raw. Keep it pure.
To minimize the environmental impact of fabrication even further, Peter opted for a raw titanium finish with graphics and logos applied in differing sheens via a stepped process of polishing and 2 stage media blasting with overlapping masking. Chris King kit in Matte Slate is the perfect paring with the matte titanium.
Peter wanted to ride this bike everywhere, and wanted low gears for dirt climbs and not give up the small jumps of road gears for riding long days on flatter terrain or fast group rides, thus he opted to use the lightweight Easton EC90SL compact double crankset (50/34) with the new Shimano Ultegra rear derailleur and 11-34 cassette.
Jones Precision carbon tubeless hoops laced to Chris King R45 disc hubs are a little extra magic. We’ve been really happy working with our friend John Jones, a super pro wheel builder in Santa Barbara who builds these beauties with his wide, disc specific, tubeless compatible carbon rims. If a full Enve wheelset build is beyond the budget, this import rim option is a great way to get into the performance of a custom handbuilt carbon wheelset at a great price without resorting to cheap hubs and factory wheels.
Alright Peter: go get lost in the hills and find your next adventure.
