Alex’s Titanium Road Bike
Alex the Ironman picked up this lovely number a couple months back and we wanted to share some photos with you.
It’s a straight up road bike, with geometry fine-tuned for Alex and his riding style and location. We backed off the head angle just a touch to add stability for technical descents complete with potholes and plenty of hairpin turns. Sounds like fun, I’m getting excited; it’s been so rainy around here of late I’ve been missing fast descending….
It’s titanium! The wonder-metal. Strong, light, comfortable, tunable, durable, recyclable, repairable, and super tough. It also does not rust or corrode, so no paint is needed! Alex opted for anodized graphics, which we do right here in-house. It’s done in aqua – a tricky color to achieve, but very cool looking. It pairs great with his selection of Gold anodized headset and hubs from Chris King. John Jones at Jones Precision Wheels built up some really nice wheels using his 38mm deep carbon rims which are wide and tubeless compatible. This has been a popular option for our riders, as this is a really great performing carbon wheel using US made hubs that are easy to service, and the price on these wheels is great for such a quality package. We media blasted his titanium King water bottle cages to match the frame and provided a custom, matching Titanium seatpost. These posts are light and very comfortable. They also look really great matched to a Titanium frame. A mix of Shimano Ultegra and Dura Ace parts complete the package.
